Northside Hospital Atlanta has opened its new Special Care Nursery (SCN) family lounge, a welcoming space designed to provide comfort, hope and peace for families with newborns receiving specialized care.
The lounge was made possible through the generous financial support of the Northside Hospital Atlanta Auxiliary, the Northside Hospital Foundation and several donor families. Their collective gifts honor every parent walking the NICU journey, offering a tranquil environment to rest, reflect and find strength during life’s most delicate moments.
“The Special Care Nursery family lounge supports Northside’s mission to provide family-centered care compassionately by providing families with a space that shows we care for them,” said Trish Witcher, system director of women’s services.
Through philanthropy and partnership, Northside is committed to building spaces that heal, support and uplift.
“Some of the unique features of the NICU family lounge are the comfortable seating and the expanded area for people to have dining opportunities,” said Astrid Horlbeck, director of facilities planning and development. “Additionally, we have a well-stocked pantry as well as some healthy options in the vending machine. We have two pumping rooms that allow lactating mothers to have a private space.”
The SCN family lounge reflects the compassion and generosity of the community and Northside’s mission to provide exceptional care not only for patients but for their loved ones as well.
