Northside Hospital Cancer Institute’s thoracic oncology program and the physicians of Northside Thoracic Surgery earned a Better Than Expected rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) in primary resection for lung cancer.
- Northside Hospital Gwinnett also earned the three-star rating in multiple areas of adult cardiac surgery.
- The Better Than Expected three-star rating is STS’s highest quality designation, placing Northside among the top thoracic and cardiac surgery programs in the United States and Canada.
Northside’s Cardio-Oncology Program was recertified as a Gold-Certified Center of Excellence by the International Cardio-Oncology Society for another three years.
Joint Commission awarded its Gold Seal of Approval to Northside Gwinnett and Northside Duluth for Joint Replacement – Hip and Knee certification.
The bariatric surgery program at Northside Duluth was recertified by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program.
U.S. News & World Report named Northside Cherokee and Northside Gwinnett as High Performing for Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy), placing both hospitals in the top 10% nationally. Only six other hospitals in Georgia earned the designation.
Employee, safety and workplace awards
Northside Hospital was named one of America’s Best Companies for 2026 by U.S. News & World Report, ranking as the highest-ranked hospital organization on the list and one of only 10 health systems nationwide included.
Northside also received a Vizient Southern States Brilliance Award for its project, “Leveraging Multidisciplinary Committees to Enhance Processes through Hospital Acquired Pressure Injury Case Reviews and Analysis,” recognizing excellence in patient safety and care delivery. Read more here.
